Kent Life trip
Year 5 and 6 had an absolutely fantastic time at Kent Life last week.
They took part in a World War Two experience day which was jammed packed with activities, including: rag rug making, RAF navigation, a talk from the Home Guard, an evacuee experience, and a Dig for Victory. They also learnt about Anderson shelters, air raid protection, 1930’s homes and visited Molly, the 1930s bus!
The workshops enhanced their learning in history about evacuees. It really brought to life some of the experiences that people faced during this troubled time.
“I liked it when we did rag rug making. We learnt that people didn’t waste anything.” Harley
“I enjoyed the Dig for Victory workshop because there was acting involved.” Olivia
“It felt like we stepped back in time. I really liked the first activity with the WWII officer even though he was really strict, it was fun learning how to march properly and stand at ease.” Lucie
“My favourite activity was the Home Guard. I really liked marching; I was good at it!” Sammy
“I found the rag rug making really enjoyable. It gave me experience of how they rationed material, and howthey used old rags to make rugs and blankets.” Ma’ad
“At the same time as learning, we were having fun too. Our chanting in the Dig for victory was amazing!” Poppy
“My favourite activity was looking inside the houses; it was cool to find out about making milk from milk powder.” Kai
