Three of our Year 5 pupils decided to raise money by holding a sale on the green. The girls raised £32 which they used to purchase items for the local food bank. Working together they selected long life items and added up the costs. What a lovely gesture from our pupils! pic.twitter.com/R91A3St8aN

Milliner visit inspires Years 5 and 6

We invited a local milliner, Julian Garner, to come into school to speak to year 5 and 6 about their hat-making project linked to sustainability.

Julian (aka Chris) explained how he became a milliner and the processes, materials and techniques that he uses to make his unique hats. The children were captivated and asked excellent questions.

The afternoon was engaging, uplifting and thought-provoking. Chris enjoyed his time at Holborough - he described the children as 'brilliant and inspiring'.

He will return to judge the hats that the children produce using recycled materials at a Fashion Show (details to follow) where he would like to celebrate the following criteria: Craftsmanship, Most Creative, Technique, Most Commercial and Sustainability.

We can't wait to see the hats that the children produce as a result of meeting a professional milliner!
