Four awards for Holborough Lakes!
Valley Invicta Primary School at Holborough Lakes has received four awards in the last few months - the Wilder Kent Award (bronze), School Mental Health Award (silver), School Games Mark (gold), and Artsmark (gold).
Wilder Kent Award – Holborough Lakes has achieved a bronze award, for the second year running, as part of an award scheme run by Kent Wildlife Trust awards. The Wilder Kent Awards is a scheme to reward and acknowledge the work of schools and community groups that are helping to create a Wilder Kent by taking positive action to restore nature and helping adults and children to reconnect with nature.
The school has also been awarded the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools ‘School Mental Health Award’ – silver status.
The Mental Health Award for Schools provides a framework for educational institutions to evidence policies and initiatives that work towards improving emotional health and wellbeing for both staff and pupils. The award ensures schools are using evidence-based approaches that align to professional and government guidelines. Utilising a developmental framework, which allows schools to evaluate current mental health practices, identify gaps, develop and strengthen these and work towards building an emotionally healthier environment. Through this process, schools commit to making mental health a strategic priority and developing a positive culture that promotes mental well-being for everyone.
The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress. Holborough Lakes is extremely proud to have been awarded the gold mark!
Lastly, Holborough Lakes has been given a gold Artsmark Award! The Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools and education settings, accredited by Arts Council England.
Artsmark is open to primary, secondary, and special schools, pupil referral units, youth offending teams, secure settings, hospital schools and Sixth Form colleges. It uses a clear and flexible framework to embed creativity across the whole curriculum and to address school improvement priorities.
