Three of our Year 5 pupils decided to raise money by holding a sale on the green. The girls raised £32 which they used to purchase items for the local food bank. Working together they selected long life items and added up the costs. What a lovely gesture from our pupils! pic.twitter.com/R91A3St8aN

Home Reading and Learning

All children will be set MyMaths Home Learning each week, please support your child with their home learning and also encourage them to use Times Tables Rockstars and Purple Mash.

In addition, to Home Learning children MUST read on a regular basis, otherwise they will not reach their full potential. Children have reading lessons every day where they are exposed to high quality texts. To increase fluency and enjoyment of reading, children need to be heard read daily. Our expectation is for this to take place at home, at least five times per week – in line with other schools and the National Agenda to improve
reading attainment and a love of literature, please support us by:

 

  • Encouraging your child to read a wide range of reading materials to expand their vocabulary and interests, including: comics, recipes, sports reports, poetry etc.
  • Ensuring reading books and Reading Records are sent into school daily.
  • If the book is an Accelerated Reader text, your child needs to complete the online quiz before they change their book.
  • Reading record books must be signed whenever your child reads. (Children are entered into a raffle every time they have their Reading Record book signed.)

We monitor the reading habits of all children. If it is evident that your child is not reading at home at least 5 times a week, we will contact you by letter. Please work in partnership with us to ensure that your child becomes a fluent, happy reader, thank you for your support.
