Young Voices
What an amazing day! 26 children from our school joined 8,000 children to perform at the O2 Young Voices concert, on the 5th January 2020.
The coach arrived at midday and we were whisked off to the O2, where we spent the afternoon rehearsing with the other schools, ready for our concert in the evening. We were so excited to be ‘backing singers’ for Tony Hadley, lead singer in Spandau Ballet, Mr Elsom's favourite 'The Shires' and also Ruti.
Ruti herself took part in Young Voices when she was 8 years old, and with the confidence and drive she received whilst taking part, Ruti decided to audition for ‘The Voice,’ winning the competition!
The children thoroughly enjoyed singing songs from a range of genres including: 'Best of the West' compilation, 'Ode to Joy', 'Kusimama' and 'Killer Queen' compilations.
We had a brilliant time dancing with Urban Strides, a growing street dance group, who taught us dance moves that we used whilst singing.
The experience of singing at the O2 was unforgettable! We had the best seats in the house this year, with the band and conductor - only metres from our seats.
The children represented Holborough Lakes Primary School beautifully and are a credit to our school; we are incredibly proud of them.
Thank you to everyone who helped prepare the children for the concert, we look forward to 2021!
