Year 3 Berkeley Homes Visit
On Wednesday, Meerkat Class enjoyed an exciting visit from Berkeley Homes.
Ivor Goodsite came along with Barnaby to teach the children about site safety, materials used on the development and to explain how Berkeley Homes is a sustainable company.
We learnt that for every tree that is cut down to build houses, three are planted by the company. The children were given high visibility jackets and helmets to wear and these have kindly been donated to the school for future use.
Meerkat Class were beautifully behaved and were excellent ambassadors for the school.
Here's what some of the pupils said about the experience:
Ashton – “It was good fun especially when we got to see the cranes and the huge containers – now we know what’s inside them…sand and cement ready to be mixed.”
Raj – “I liked seeing the machinery and finding out about the different jobs on the sites and the hazards.”
Lily-Ann – “I liked it when we got to play the games in the carport. One was pouring water in the guttering and one was to see how steady our hands were. The bell rang when we touched the metal (completed the circuit).”
