Walking Bus launch!
Valley Invicta Primary School at Holborough Lakes officially launched their Walking Bus today in a special assembly for pupils and parent helpers, with the KM Charity Team and sponsors present.
The Walking Bus currently collects 12 children from around the Holborough Lakes development, starting at the park and ending at the school in plenty of time for morning registration. It is hoped that numbers will grow considerably in September, the new academic year.
Headteacher, Lisa Vickers, said: “We are delighted to have launched our Walking Bus today. It’s beneficial in so many ways – it encourages the children to exercise, improves road safety and decreases pollution in the area, to name but a few. We are very grateful to our parent helpers for their commitment to the initiative, and also to the KM Charity Team and sponsors who have supported us so well.”
Karen Brinkman, Education Manager, from the KM Charity Team said: “We are thrilled to be able to come to Holborough Lakes this morning and not only see the Walking Bus in action, but to also give the children, who are part of it, a certificate and some goodies as a reward. We hope to be launching additional routes with more children from Holborough Lakes very soon.”
And here are some comments from the children who are part of the Walking Bus!
Iffy, Year 2, said: “I like the Walking Bus because I like walking and it gives me good exercise.”
Ria, Year 2, said: “The Walking Bus is great because I can chat with my friends on the way to school.”
Sammy, Year 2, said: “I like it because I get to be with my friends.”
